Painter, Visual artist · New York, United States
For the artist I am, life is a journey along the edge of the unpredictable, the unknown, and the incomprehensible to most. It’s a constant chase after a place where imagination runs free and untamed.
Each painting is my way of honoring the beauty in the unnoticed or forgotten and a way of inviting my viewer to contemplation and deep connection with my artistic world.
Born in Romania, in a very small town by the Danube River, she found escape from boredom by reading and spending time at the Art Gallery where she learned drawing and painting. As adult, she worked as a Professional Nurse and spent many years working at European hospitals and, for the last 20 years in the USA. Her profession became the richest source of inspiration for her passion, and she used the free time, the bad time and the happy time to express different emotions in painting. Her style changed and developed continuously until she reached the level that best describes her: impressionism and abstract mixed with an authentic self interpretation of image, color and light.
The artist's favorite medium is oil paint on canvas or wood.
Self-taught artist, she stayed in contact with the art's world. Took advantage of the Internet to watch painters at work took classes and learned techniques and new materials to use.
In 2022 she retired from the medical field and took the artistic life to a professional level. In 2022 she wrote a book that she illustrated herself to make the message more powerful. ( "TAPESTRY" by ANDRA SERBA-Westbow Press
